Christian Aid

What is Christian Aid?
A charity started after World War 2 by British and Irish churches to help European refugees, no matter what their faith. In 1957 the first Christian Aid week with door to door collections to raise funds was very successful and has been held ever since, allowing money to be distributed to the world’s poor.. Christian Aid has challenged governments about their aid and trade policies, health, justice and environmental issues.

It insists that the world can and must be changed, to one where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty, injustice and terror.

How does it do this?

By working with local partners in the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Middle East -  but depending on local churches and individuals in the UK to raise funds.

We, at the North Church, are one such church, working with the Perth Christian Aid Group to ensure that Christian Aid magazines, literature, “lobby” postcards are available; providing collectors for the May Christian Aid Week which is still the main fund raising event; and periodically organizing and encouraging support of additional fund raising activities.
